TASSO Induction
Following the AGM in September, TASSO held it’s Induction for the Board members of 2020-21 on bSaturday the 3rd of October. As previously mentioned, the Board had a reshuffle of positions within the group and welcomed the addition of our newest member Neil Myers.
Neil has not wasted any time, having already completed his nomination form to be a Director on the Board of ACSSO and that was submitted today.
The ACSSO AGM was held on the 31st of October. Significantly, the ACSSO President chose not to stand for re-election. TASSO would like to thank Andrew Bidwell for the amazing inclusive job he has done over the last 12 months.
Jared took on his first media appearance as TASSO President! Well done Jared, we think you nailed your first live radio interview.
“THE SHOW TASSO talks Tassie parents missing school events due to COVID restrictions 29 October 2020 Yesterday Aaron Stevens heard from Tasmania Talks listeners who were concerned about being unable to attend their children’s end-of-year ceremonies and sports carnivals due to COVID-19 restrictions in schools. This morning, Jared Dickason, President of TASSO, joins Aaron to discuss the reasons behind the restrictions and some possible alternatives for parents wanting to support their kids.”
In other news, TASSO is progressing with our submission to the State budget for 2021-2022. The report is currently submitted once a year and outlines all the things that TASSO does for the
students, carers and communities of state schools in Tasmania. On a similar note – Participating in the State Budget Community Lock-up as TASSO’s representative for 2020 will be our President Jared. It will be Jared’s first Lock-up experience.
As is now the norm in 2020 many meetings have been conducted online via Zoom and Teams. Contact with the community has been mostly been concerning COVID and its impact on end of year school events.
