Meet our Board

Damien Rhind
PRESIDENT
Damien brings a strong focus on people, teamwork and inclusive environments to the TASSO Board. He is General Manager of Keen Partners, supporting apprentices and trainees across Tasmania, and is undertaking further studies in Human Resources. He also brings experience through his involvement with the TMEC Inclusion and Diversity Committee.

Gemma Tuxworth
VICE PRESIDENT
Gemma brings a professional background in physiotherapy and a strong commitment to equitable access to healthcare and education, particularly in rural and remote communities. Having moved to Tasmania seven years ago, she values the opportunities and quality of life Tasmania offers families and children.

Stephanie Gee
TREASURER
Steph is a small business owner, community volunteer and works in vocational education at TAFE. She brings more than 20 years of experience balancing work, family and community commitments, along with a strong understanding of education and workforce pathways. Steph brings practical experience, strong community connections and an active parent perspective to the TASSO Board.

John Allan
SECRETARY
John brings extensive experience in policy and engagement and a strong commitment to improving outcomes for students and families. Based in Hobart and a father of three, he understands firsthand the importance of strong partnerships between schools and families. John also serves on several committees, including TASSICT and the IT Professionals Association.

Samantha Ashwood
NORTHERN BOARD MEMBER
Samantha is an active community member with a strong commitment to supporting students, families and schools. She volunteers in her local school, contributes to fundraising activities and values teamwork, learning and community involvement.

Matthew Drysdale
SOUTHERN BOARD MEMBER
Matthew is an experienced Environmental Engineer and Project Manager who has led major infrastructure projects across Australia and internationally. He also brings experience in humanitarian response, strategic planning and education, supported by a Masters of Teaching. Matthew combines big-picture thinking with a strong commitment to public education.

Jayanthi Maniam
NORTHERN BOARD MEMBER
Jayanthi is a data scientist and Justice of the Peace for Tasmania. A parent of two children in primary and secondary school, she brings analytical expertise alongside a strong community focus and an interest in strengthening relationships between schools, families and educators.
