What is a School Committee?
Every state school in Tasmania has a School Association.
The School Association Committee (the committee) is an elected group that represents each arm of the School Association. The committee works together for the benefit of the school and association. The committee is responsible for the business and administration of the School Association.
Governance Resources

Constitution
The School Association Constitution is a set of rules outlining how the School Association will operate. It is important that all members of the School Association are aware that the School Association has a Constitution.
Practical Resources for School Association Committees
Volunteer Engagement
Thanks to a small grant through Volunteering Tasmania and funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services, TASSO has developed a new Volunteer Engagement Resource Guide; created with and for School Association Committees.
The Guide explores practical, inclusive, and flexible ways to support and strengthen volunteer engagement aligned with best-practice volunteering.

Fundraising
School Committees will often work to fundraise for school resources, events, or new facilities. Fundraising can seem daunting, but effective fundraising is possible. It is also an opportunity to bring the school community together and foster connections.
