Tasmanian Coalition of Community Services Peaks 2025 Election Priorities
Prioritise all Tasmanians and support the community services industry that supports them
An incoming state government has a responsibility to build a strong partnership with the state’s community services industry, and not just for Tasmanians doing it tough. It is critical all Tasmanians have what they need to thrive.
The community services industry is central to building the resilience of Tasmanians and the communities in which they live and work. It is the largest and fastest growing industry in Tasmania – its 28,000 highly-skilled workers and 46,000 volunteers work hard every day to support Tasmanians, and in doing so add $1.9 billion annually to the state’s economy.
Tasmanians are hurting in this cost-of-living crisis. They are worried about housing, health and education, and costs associated with rent, energy, transport and food – their general wellbeing is under threat.
In 2025, we are seeking commitments from all political leaders to appropriately resource Tasmania’s community services system under a fairer funding model so we can collectively support Tasmanians, retain our staff who deserve secure employment, and to have the certainty to make longer-term decisions that deliver better value for money.
Our message is a simple one this election campaign: support Tasmanians by prioritising and resourcing the industry that supports them.
We call on the next government to work in partnership with our essential industry to build a sustainable community services industry that supports Tasmanians now and into the future.
Tasmanian Coalition of Community Services Peaks 2025 Election Priorities:
- Fast-track the implementation of five-year funding contracts across the industry.
- Implement funding review processes, at least six months before the end date of a contract.
- Commit to an indexation figure that reflects the true cost of doing business.
- Provide a commitment to reset the relationship with the community services industry through
a Partnership Agreement with the Tasmanian Coalition of Community Services Peaks and the
Tasmanian Government, based on respect and collaboration.
