Education Act 2016
As you would be aware the Education Act 2016 has recently been passed by the Parliament and the implementation period has commenced.
Throughout the consultation process we have passed on the concerns of our members to the Education Department and to all members of Parliament. While these concerns did not result in amendments to the Act, they have been voiced. You are able to read the report of concerns here: https://tasso.org.au2016/10/07/tasmanian-education-bill-2016/
TASSO have been working closely with the Department to ensure there is minimal disruption to parents groups to allow them to transition to the new arrangements for School Associations in 2017.
There are some anomalies identified in relation to Incorporated Parents and Friends (P&F) groups that operate in addition to a School Associations. (P&F groups that do not operate as a sub-committee of the school association). There will be groups that will benefit from advice specific to their circumstance, please call TASSO with any enquiries related to the changes and implementation requirements.
It is important to complete the attached survey and return to TASSO c/- eo@tasso.org.au.
